Back to School For Neighborhood Kids
The NTT holds an annual Back to School event. The children received 5 pairs of underwear, 3 pairs of socks, 2 camis for girls, Thrivent t-shirts, school supplies, books, and snacks. We had 19 helpers from our church who welcomed, chatted with, and assisted our neighbors. Our neighbors stayed around a while as they enjoyed their snacks. We were asked questions about the next Laundry Day and if we have clothing for adults. Connections are being made. Thank you, the congregation, for your support of this outreach event that made it possible. You are loving and generous, models of Christ.
Harvest Home In-Gathering
Each October our congregation shares the bounty of our tables with others through the Meals on Wheels program. The following food items are collected: medium noodles, macaroni, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, sugar (5 lb bags), brown sugar, canned fruit, cake mixes, cake frosting, ketchup, canned vegetables, instant white rice, low salt chicken broth, cookies and grapenut cereal. Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated. In the weeks leading up to Harvest Home donations may be deposited in the Harvest Home box located in Memorial Hall. Please place any monetary contributions in an envelope marked for Meals on Wheels.
In November each year a combination of Laundry Day, Shoe Distribution, and a Hats, Scarves, and Mittens giveaway is held. We collect Quarters to assist the neighbors with their laundry at the Laundromat located next to our church. Our goal is to have 60 packages of $5.00 worth of quarters for each laundry day. We are accepting shoe donations and hats, scarves, and mittens anytime from September through early November. Many volunteers help with this outreach. If you have an interest in helping, please contact the church office.
