Confirmation 2023-2024
Following Lutheran tradition, our middle school youth are actively engaged in studying what it means to be Lutheran.
They are growing in faith while gaining an understanding of the promises made for them at the time of their baptism. At the end of their 8th grade year, a service of confirmation is part of our worship during which these young people affirm their baptism. This time of learning is on Sunday mornings at 9:30 in Meeting Room #2.
Youth who have started confirmation classes are also invited to attend Confirmation Camp for a week in June, held at Camp Nawakwa. This is an opportunity to join with other local congregations and dive deeper into the principles of faith covered during confirmation classes in a fun and experiential way.
ALiVE at Camp Nawakwa
Our annual synod-wide middle school youth retreat, ALiVE, is held every fall at Camp Nawakwa. The event combines time for faith formation with fun and fellowship, centered around a specific theme. There are games, campfires, small-group discussions, and many activities geared towards building fellowship with new and existing Christian friends.
Winterfest at the Nook
Our annual synod-wide high school youth retreat, Winterfest, is held every winter at Spooky Nook Sports Complex. The event allows high school youth to dive deep into a theme that relates questions of faith with everyday life, and provides opportunities for games, music, and fellowship with youth from congregations around our synod.
Camps in our Synod
We love outdoor ministry! Ask our young people to tell you about their experiences at Nawakwa and Kirchenwald.
ELCA Youth Gathering
New Orleans July 13-21, 2024
Every three years, high school youth and their adult leaders from across the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America gather for a week of faith formation known as the ELCA Youth Gathering. Through days spent in interactive learning, worship, Bible study, service and fellowship, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives.
In June 2018, our high school youth spent a life-changing week in Houston, TX. Here’s a glimpse of the experience:
- Worshiping with 31,242 siblings in Christ
- Canvassing a neighborhood affected by flooding to facilitate access to resources offered by the city
- Exploring the wide range of justice, peace building, and faith formation ministries of the ELCA
- Communing with those from our Synod
- Making new friends from around the corner and around the world
I want you to know all about Christ’s love, although it is too wonderful to be measured. Then your lives will be filled with all that God is. — Ephesians 3:19
